I don’t know about you, but 'change' is that icky word that makes my stomach turn.
If you know me personally, you know that change doesn’t come easily. I’m not necessarily the one who’s quick to adapt without wanting to know the whole plan from beginning to end… asking when, where, who, why, and what time before we have even finished the first conversation about something.
Change comes with many challenges for me, but it’s also the thing I see God use the most in my life. Just as I seem to be settled physically somewhere, or mentally ready for a chapter I’m in… just as I’ve overcome some milestones spiritually in my walk with the Lord, there quickly come to be more things to overcome.
Again, I don’t know about you, and I don’t know your story… but what I do know is that change is inevitable… change comes at the best of times and at the worst of times. Change happens when we want it to or when we don’t.
The point is, life is full of small moments and grand adventures… and change happens to be the very thing that God uses to prepare us for what’s ahead.
Sometimes change is full of new beginnings as you chase dreams, but other times, it is full of grief and sorrow.
Whatever the case may be, I hope you know that to live with hope for the future, change is important.
In the good, and the hard… there is a purpose.
I remember when I came back from being overseas in 2023; just as I found my footing… just as I found my purpose, I faced incredible obstacles of pain, trauma, anxiety, and a depth of understanding I still don’t quite know how to put in words. I realised the things I had experienced were indeed changes that I couldn’t fully make sense of in my heart, soul, and mind… I couldn’t be at peace with it while not making sense of it. We aren’t always going to have the full picture of the things we experience in life. We might never have all the answers to the questions, why? Where? When? or how is this happening?
We might never have all the answers, but one thing we can always know is that God is fighting on our behalf when we are seeking Him wholeheartedly.
So, today, this week… I want to take a moment to ask you… What are the changes God has been asking you to make? Are you in the process of experience changes in life situation and circumstance that feel impossible to make sense of? Are you confused, frustrated, and maybe even restless about the changes in plans around you, in friendships, in life?
Remember this… God is with you through it all… He is ever present.
Take it to His feet and ask Him to show you how to go from there.
