Over the last couple of weeks, we have certainly covered a wide range of topics within the framework of tiredness, and I know they have been very full-on topics.
And although there is much more to cover within this series, I felt it necessary to take a week of reflection:
Here is what we have covered so far:
In the first two weeks, we looked at a total of 20 things that can make us tired…
In the third week, we looked at identifying what tiredness is and what scripture says about it.
In the fourth week, we tackled the question, “Why Are We All Tired?”
And in the fifth, we talked about overthinking.
Within each of these areas, no matter where we are on our journey of life, I know there is much to learn about finding true rest in God and not just understanding it but living it out. How do we live from a heart of rest in the everyday…
That’s been my desire for this series: That we would all find the truth of knowing where our source of rest should be coming from.
As we take a week to reflect, feel free to look back at some of these posts, maybe the ones that stood out to you the most and ask the following question:
In this current state of life, am I reflecting Jesus as being enough for me?
Or are there parts of my story I haven’t let go of? Maybe it’s control of an outcome, maybe it’s overthinking a relationship status that you wish you had, maybe it’s just living numb… day to day with no real fire, excitement, or purpose in life. There are so many more areas too, so whichever they are for you,
ask yourself:
Is He enough for me?
And if you’re brave, open the floor before the feet of Jesus, ask Him:
What areas need addressing in your life?
When we live as though Jesus isn’t enough in our lives, it’s easy to feel the weight, the burdens of life, and the overwhelming moments as though that is the end of the story… forgetting that God holds it all and that in order for us to live on purpose, we must know the areas that make us tired (I’m talking about the things that are changeable… social pressures, fear of man, pleasing others, (which results in a lack of boundaries often), feeling inadequate giving reason for striving….
Whatever the case may be, when we come to terms with the reality of what’s really holding us back from living in freedom, we can pinpoint certain areas that make us tired.
Of course, I’m not saying that means we’ll never be tired, or burned out, or exhausted, but we will start to learn the areas where we haven’t let God be Lord of our lives and start to unfold the tendencies we have to try and be enough, for ourselves, for God, for others.
I’m going to leave it there and challenge you this week, to open your heart before the Lord (though He already knows your heart). But open it anyway, and as you reflect on some of the topics we have discussed, let Him be the One to show you where change is still required.
I share all of these things not as judgment, no condemnation either. Just a fellow sister on the journey of living with Jesus to the fullest.
May this all encourage you and remind you that you’re not alone in any of it.
With much love,
Until next week,
Jessie
Next week, we will look at the important topic of boundaries and see how the Lord leads us.
