God in the details...

Perhaps this seems like simply a table number to you, but to me… it reminded me that God was and is ever present... that God is present in the details we seem to miss.
A joy fills my heart knowing that there is a living, active, loving God who cares, who sees, who knows… who understands. If this has reminded me of anything, it has reminded me that there is something so much greater in this life than simply chasing happiness. Happiness is circumstantial, and unless I constantly strive to create the perfect life, I won’t ever be satisfied.
Unlike happiness, joy can be constant. Whether this season of life is easy or comprised of challenges, we can have joy. With God, I have joy that I otherwise never would have experienced… Even, in the waiting…
Sometimes the waiting is necessary to remind us that He’s got it. The waiting is not a waste… The waiting is our devotion and our obedience in surrender to God.
The waiting is a reminder “to be still and know that He is God” (Psalm 46:10).
These words are just as much for me as they are for you. My heart can only rest when I truly trust that ‘the life I long for’ (from Christy Nockels' book called The Life You Long For) isn’t my own… It’s one in which I’m called to live each day in constant surrender.
There are ‘details’ in our lives for a reason… if you blink too fast, you might miss the very sign God has placed right in front of you... that you've been waiting for.
